Welcome to Ordinary Mom of Special Kids! So happy you could join us on this amazing, yet ever-changing adventure of parenting! My name is Kristen and I am the proud mother of two amazing kids Olivia, 15 and Evan 13 whom I love more than life itself! I spend my days juggling roles as a full time teacher (27 years and counting) mother, part time tutor, blogger, wife, daughter, sister, friend, volunteer and BBC aficionado. The role of parent and caregiver to a child with special needs can be extraordinarily lonely and isolating, as well as tremendously taxing physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially. However, it can also be filled with some of life’s most incredible moments of joy and triumph, helping to redefine the notion of bliss. My goal is that by building more bridges than fences, we can help to make the world of special needs parenting exponentially smaller as we support one another through life’s peaks and valleys. Through the creation of a global community we can collaborate, celebrate and most importantly honor our exceptional children while helping one another remain ever hopeful for a brighter future one word at a time!
